This course will give you the basic skills you need to take your first steps with the application. We'll explain the user interface, show you how to move around your scene, review various methods for importing your data, and demonstrate how to use the industry templates to kickstart your project.

In this course, we'll take a detailed look at the most important tools and libraries in Twinmotion. You’ll learn how to set up materials, paint a forest, and populate your project with people and decals. We'll also cover using the integrated Quixel Megascans and Sketchfab libraries. Finally, we’ll take a look at how to set up lighting, as well as reviewing some of the Path Tracer settings.

This course will cover how to create and export media in Twinmotion, demonstrating how easy it is to create images, videos, panoramas, and even real-time presentations. We’ll also show you how you can share some of these media types online through Twinmotion Cloud or Artstation, and even take your Twinmotion projects to the next level by opening them Unreal Engine.

Frequently asked questions

Twinmotion is currently available for Windows and macOS. See the Twinmotion System Requirements article on our support community site for full details. The Path Tracer has additional requirements; you can find out more in this article.
Twinmotion features direct one-click synchronization with 3ds Max, Allplan, Archicad, BricsCAD, CET*, Modo*, Revit, Rhino (including Grasshopper), RIKCAD, SketchUp Pro, SOLIDWORKS, and Vectorworks, and the ability to import entire scenes from CityEngine, form-Z, and Navisworks in uDatasmith format. In addition, you can export your Twinmotion projects to Unreal Engine. You can download the relevant plugins from the Twinmotion plugins page (support for Allplan, BricsCAD, CityEngine, Revit 2024, and Vectorworks is built into the source apps).

You can also bring in data from virtually all 3D content creation programs, with support for importing a wide range of file formats.

*Note: These plugins are provided by third-party vendors for a fee.
No, you don’t need to have Unreal Engine to use Twinmotion. However, if you'd like to take your project to the next level with custom interactions and advanced animations and simulations, you can export it directly to Unreal Engine. Visit the Twinmotion plugins page to download the required Unreal Engine plugin.
Datasmith is a collection of tools and plugins that bring entire pre-constructed scenes and complex assets created in a variety of industry-standard design applications into Twinmotion or Unreal Engine. See the documentation for more details.
Direct Link is a workflow for users who want to easily send the information from their design or modeling software into Twinmotion. This enables you to quickly update your content with a one-click synchronization button; you can even synchronize data from multiple different source packages into the same Twinmotion project. To get this working, you will need to have one of the compatible plugins installed, in the cases where this functionality is not already built into the source application.
