Twinmotion Community Challenge #11: ‘A Journey Through Worlds’

It’s time for a new Twinmotion Community Challenge, and this one leaves you with loads of scope for creative thinking. All we’re providing is a tracking camera: it’s up to you what you put in place for us to see through its lens.

At the end of the challenge, we’ll take the ten best entries and stitch them together to make one continuous shot that takes you on a journey from one world to the next.

Here are a few examples, but you can use any content and any theme you like.
We’ll promote the finished piece on our social media channels. As well as bragging rights, there’s a cash prize for the winning entry, plus other goodies to be had for all the finalists.

We’ll also take all the entries and compile them into a YouTube video, so we’d love to see lots of diversity. What world will you provide a glimpse of? Anything’s possible, from city streets to tranquil coastlines, fashion runways, car racetracks, and beyond. And why not turn our viewers into time travelers? Your scene could be set anywhere from the Jurassic period to the imagined far-off future. Let’s have some fun!

Challenge #11: ‘A Journey Through Worlds’

Begin by downloading the tracking camera Twinmotion project.

Now, populate it with any content you like. You can create your own models in a DCC application, or import content from Quixel Megascans, Sketchfab, or third-party websites.  When you’re happy, render your scene through the tracking camera. You can use any Twinmotion features, including Lumen and the Path Tracer.

The grand prize winner will receive a cash prize of $500 USD and a cool Epic Games/Twinmotion swag bag. Each finalist will also receive a swag bag—so even if you don’t make the top spot, there are goodies to be had.

Submission details

Your entry must be a video of between seven and ten seconds in length, rendered entirely in Twinmotion using the aspect ratio set for the camera in the template: 1920 x 802 (or higher), with no change to the camera, focal length, or frame rate. Videos generated from the Trial, Education, and Commercial Editions are all accepted. No post-production or video editing software can be used.

The challenge starts on April 19, 2024. The deadline for entry is Friday, May 17, 2024, at 11:59 PM EDT (UTC-4). Submit your entry on the Epic Developer Community or social media, using the hashtag #TwinmotionChallenge in the text.

You can enter in the following ways:
You don’t have to post on all five social media platforms, but wherever you post, be sure to include #TwinmotionChallenge in the text so we can find it.

Rules

Since the rules vary for each challenge, we recommend reviewing the Terms & Conditions to ensure you’re adhering to all of the entry criteria. However, there is one rule that we’ll continue to call out.

Your image cannot include any trademarked branding or logos.

If there’s a car in your image, it cannot have a visible brand logo on it, such as on the front grill or back end of the car. You can still have the car in the scene, just not the logo. The same thing applies to people in your scene if they’re wearing branded sneakers. They can wear shoes that look like a well-known brand, but cannot have any logos or trademarked branding on them.

Images consisting of branding and logos will be disqualified from the competition. We don’t enjoy disqualifying people and really don’t want it to happen to you, so make sure to double-check your entry before submitting it.

The rules are available in the following languages:  Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Russian, Spanish (EU) (LATAM), and Turkish.

We’re looking forward to seeing your amazing creations! If you don’t have Twinmotion yet, download it here.
