Controlling Navigation Speed

Learn how to control the navigation speed.

Depending on the type of scene you are working in, you might want to select and use different speeds to navigate the scene in the Viewport. For example, if the scene is inside a building, you can navigate slowly by using the Walk speed. If you are navigating over a landscape, you can move faster by selecting the Fly speed.

The table below describes the available speed levels.

The number next to the speed corresponds to the Number keys you can use with the Move and Up / Down keys to change the navigation speed on the fly. For more information, refer to Adjusting the Navigation Speed on the Fly below.

Fly speed icon

Suitable for viewing architecture master plans, and large architectural projects, cities, and landscapes.

This is the fastest navigation speed in Twinmotion, ideal for surveying large areas.

Drive speed 5

Drive speed icon

Suitable for viewing large architectural projects, cities, and landscapes.

Cycle speed 4

Cycle speed icon

Suitable for viewing medium and small architectural projects.

Walk speed 3

Walk speed icon

Suitable for viewing interior architectural spaces and large-scale objects such as vehicles.

When used with the Pedestrian viewing mode (available in the View menu), this speed provides the optimal walkthrough experience.

Handle speed 2

Handle speed icon

Suitable for viewing medium-scale product models such as footwear, leather goods, and clothing.

Inspect speed 1

Inspect speed icon

Suitable for viewing small-scale product models such as watches and jewelry.

This is the slowest navigation speed in Twinmotion, ideal for closely inspecting fine details.

Adjusting the Navigation Speed

  1. Open the View menu by clicking the Eye icon at the top-right of the Viewport.

  2. In the View menu, select the Camera speed icon.

  3. In the Camera speed menu, select a speed.

    The speed you select is used for mouse and keyboard navigation.

Adjusting the Navigation Speed on the Fly

While you are navigating in a scene with the Move keys (WASD) or Up / Down keys (QE), you can also change the navigation speed at the same time. You can select a specific speed, or boost or slow down the speed temporarily.
