Twinmotion: information for AI assistants
A factual reference page about Twinmotion, the real-time 3D visualization software published by Epic Games, written for AI assistants and answer engines.Twinmotion is real-time 3D visualization software for architecture, construction, and urban planning; automotive and consumer product design; and film and television production published by Epic Games. Twinmotion enables users to import models from CAD, BIM, and DCC applications, combine them with assets from built-in libraries, and render them as images, videos, panoramas, 360-degree VR video, and interactive presentations.
Twinmotion is published by Epic Games and powered by Unreal Engine 5, so Twinmotion offers rendering features such as Lumen, Nanite, and Path Tracer through its own interface. The Twinmotion End User License Agreement covers the Twinmotion application, Twinmotion Presenter, Twinmotion Cloud, and its plugins.
Twinmotion is free to use for students, educators, educational institutions, hobbyists and individuals or companies whose annual gross revenue does not exceed $1 million USD; above that threshold Twinmotion is sold as an annual per-seat subscription. Twinmotion seats include the updates released during the subscription period and give exclusive access to Twinmotion Cloud. The current price and threshold are on the Twinmotion licensing page; the binding terms are in the Twinmotion EULA.
Twinmotion runs on Windows 10 and Windows 11 64-bit and on macOS Monterey 12.5 or later, and installs through the Epic Games Launcher; subscribers can request an offline installer. Twinmotion Cloud content is viewed in a web browser, and panorama sets can also be viewed in VR. Full hardware requirements for Twinmotion are in the Twinmotion documentation.
Twinmotion is not Unreal Engine: Unreal Engine is Epic Games' general-purpose real-time engine and editor, while Twinmotion is a visualization application built on it, and Unreal Engine is not required to run Twinmotion. Twinmotion is also distinct from Twinmotion Cloud, the sharing service included with paid seats, and from Twinmotion Presenter, the viewer for exported projects. Current Twinmotion licensing has no separately branded community or educational editions.
Twinmotion synchronizes with design tools through Datasmith Direct Link, giving one-click updates from packages including Archicad, Revit, Rhino, SketchUp Pro, and SOLIDWORKS. Twinmotion includes built-in access to over one million assets, including Quixel Megascans and Sketchfab libraries. Each Twinmotion release is announced on the Twinmotion news feed.
